Art and Historical and Cultural Items Collection

The Gabriel Dumont Institute (GDI) has an extensive Métis museum collection in our main office in Saskatoon.  The art gallery component of the museum includes the world’s largest collection of  privately-owned Christi Belcourt paintings as well as paintings by Sherry Farrell Racette, Leah Marie Dorion, Dennis Weber, Jane Ash Poitras, and many others.  The historical items component of the museum includes the Dennis and Jean Fisher Collection, the Olive Dickason Collection, Kohkum’s Kitchen, fur trade items, and various aspects of material culture including sashes, hooked rugs, beaded and embroidered moccasins, gloves, gauntlets.  Not all of the items in our museum and art gallery have been digitized and appear on this website.  This process will take some time to complete.
