Wilfred tells the story of how he joined the army with his brother. Like many other Métis veterans he enlisted because there was no other source of money at that time. He also talks about where he received his training. When Wilfred landed in France he shares both of his stories of when he was buried alive and when he was shot at by another Canadian soldier. Wilfred and Theresa discuss what life is like living with Wilfred’s injuries due to the war. Including the pain he suffers and some of the restrictions that he is faced with. They also discuss the pension he gets and how difficult it was to get his pension. Wilfred then tells a story of how he got to German soldiers to surrender and then take them as prisoners. Lastly, Wilfred shares a little bit about his views on army life. |
