Creator: SUNTEP – Institut français
Subject: SUNTEP, Institut français, Identity, Language
Description: This roundtable discussion took place between students from the Saskatchewan Urban Native Teacher Education Program (SUNTEP) Regina and Baccalauréat en éducation students from the Institut français/University of Regina. The Moderators were Calvin Racette for the Métis community and Francine Proulx-Kenzle for the Francophone community. Student participants included: Erin Kramer, Nicole Morrow, Jed Huntley, Sylvie Roy, Allison Parr, Christine Morrisette, Jacqueline Roy, Michel Gareau, Scott Richmond, David Poulin, Jacqueline Perrault, and Louise Schmidt. Wilfred Burton represented SUNTEP Regina and Frédéric Dupré represented the Institut français. The students talked about “minority Founding Peoples” and how their identities matter to them as individuals and as members of communities with a long-standing history in Canada. This roundtable is part of a larger initiative to engage Métis and Francophones in an ongoing dialogue.
