Description: This image is of the Carriere coat of arms that is part of a shadow box to commemorate David Henry Carriere (1921-1987), a veteran of the Second World War. According to Victor Demas Carriere, who granted the Gabriel Dumont Institute permission to photograph this image, his father David Henry Carriere was only 17 when he joined the Canadian Army. David enlisted because his older brother Frank had signed up and he did not want is brother to go to war by himself.
